The Writing Center
Develop critical thinking, writing and reading skill— vital to success in any profession and to being an engaged and informed citizen.
Welcome to the NCWC Writing Center!
The NCWC Writing Center is dedicated to helping students with any form of writing, from any class, and at any stage of the writing process. We offer both face-to-face and synchronous online sessions that allow you to collaborate with trained peer consultants, and we host Writing Workshops each semester that walk you through important writing topics.

Resources for Students: Individual Consultations
Students in any class and at any stage in their writing process can schedule an Individual Consultation with our trained peer consultants. Consultations may be face-to-face or online. Be sure to provide a copy of the assignment sheet.
Scheduled appointments will be given priority over walk-ins.
Making an appointment for an Individual Consultation
To make an appointment, please follow the link below and fill out the Appointment Form. This form helps our consultants prepare for your visit and will guide you to the Appointments Calendar where you can choose your appointment date and time.

Resources for Faculty: Writing Workshops and Writing Hours
The NCWC Writing Center also provides resources to help faculty members with writing assignments in their classes.
The Writing Center can design and present 60-90 minute, interactive Writing Workshops that address common writing concerns or specific writing conventions. Possible topics include the following:
- Writing for Concision
- Genre Conventions of _____
- Plagiarism and Citing Sources in MLA/APA
- Evaluating Sources
- Identifying Patterns of Grammatical Error
We can also host Writing Hours that can be a space for peer review and collaboration or for individual work.
Please request Writing Workshops or Writing Hours 2 weeks in advance. Contact Dr. Keely Mohon-Doyle at kdoyle@ncwc.edu with your request. Keep in mind that Workshops may have to be scheduled outside of your regular class time.
